Event Details
A journey deep into the heart of hope. From German Baroque genius Heinrich Schütz, in his 350th anniversary year, comes an extraordinary vision of light in the most harrowing of circumstances: funeral music in the midst of war that stubbornly refuses to submit to despair. Surrounding this rich and profound work like the petals of a flower is the radiant beauty of music by JS Bach, John Rutter, the neglected 17th-century master Franz Tunder, and Australian composer Brooke Shelley, including a new work commissioned by the choir.
Featured non-Australian music: Tunder - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, Schutz - Musikalische Exequien (Requiem), Rutter - Hymn to the Creator of Light, Bach - Lobet den Herrn
