Melbourne-born Lisa Gerrard is known worldwide for her darkly cinematic contralto voice.
Equally renowned as a film score composer, her impressive work includes Whale Rider (2002), Fateless (2005), and Gladiator (2000) for which she received a Golden Globe. Her style has been described as ‘ambient, orchestral, folk and new age at the same time’.
Alternating between English and her own idioglossia (what she describes as ‘the language of the Heart’), Lisa Gerrard is one of Australia’s most captivating voices.
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre in arrangement with RAZ Music
