COMPOSITION GUEST LECTURE - PROFESSOR LIZA LIM
Sydney Conservatorium of Music offers you the opportunity to attend a free one-hour guest lecture with acclaimed composer, Professor Liza Lim.
Tree of Codes, cut-outs in time, an opera
Professor Liza Lim discusses her fourth opera Tree of Codes, premiered by Cologne Opera with Ensemble Musikfabrik and the Swiss theatre company Numero 23.Prod in April 2016. Based on the ‘cut-out’ book of the same title by Jonathan Safran Foer, which filters short stories by the pre-war Polish author Bruno Schultz, the opera is set in the alternative reality of a day in which time has been wound back from death. Displacement and dissociation of time, space and identity create effects of menace and wonder.
