Event Details
Act 1 - Loopy: Les Millar solo
Inspired loops by one of SA’s best bass players
Les Millar – double bass, guitar and voice
Playing double bass, guitar and voice, Les builds a multilayered backdrop from which springs passionate improvisations. Les Millar has been in a range of international publications including New Musical Express and Guinness Book of Jazz and this year performed at the Melbourne Jazz Festival.
Act 2 - Trio Apoplectic (SYD - pictured)
Sofia – Adelaide CD launch
Dave Jackson – alto saxophone, Abel Cross – double bass, Alex Masso – drums
Trio Apoplectic demonstrates with remarkable consistency that it is possible to sound contemporary, play freely interactive improvisation, and create pure melody. The trio can swing lightly, blithely, but with a mounting intensity, and they can create fields of limpid beauty. This aspect is very much to the fore on Sofia, their new CD. Start now with these brilliant musicians and see where it takes you.
