Combining infectious grooves, emotive melodies, risk-taking improvisation and extreme dynamics. The Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group “radiates a joyful energy that infects not just the band members but the entire auditorium” (Sydney Morning Herald).

The Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group was founded in 2011 by award-winning Australian drummer, Susenjar who has performed and recorded with music legends including Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Pharrell Williams, Steve Miller, Gloria Gaynor and Dee Dee Bridgewater to name a few.

Following five years of study and performance in New York City, Miami, Peru and the Caribbean islands, Susnjar released his debut album “Su Su Nje” which was honoured twice at the 2015 Australian Jazz Bell Awards. Daniel has performed and recorded with music legends including Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Pharrell Williams, Steve Miller, Gloria Gaynor, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Arturo Sandoval, to name a few.

Recognised internationally for performing original music inspired by traditional Afro-Peruvian rhythms, as well as fresh arrangements of traditional Peruvian songs. To date, the group has released two albums, toured throughout the United States and Australia, and have collaborated with artists including Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Brian Lynch, Freddy Huevito Lobaton, Sammy Figueroa, Vivian Sessoms and Gabriel Alegria.

In 2016, the group won the WAM award for Best Jazz Act, with Daniel also receiving Best Drummer/Percussionist honours. The band also won the WAM jazz song of the year in 2015 for the original piece Pius BartosikTheir recently released their brand new album Moth to a Flame, and are touring throughout Australia during March and April to celebrate their breakthrough effort.
