Nock trio-plus is a rare chance to hear one of Australia’s premier modern jazz groups in an expanded setting, together with three of Sydney’s most interesting and exciting emerging players. Featuring his trio, bassist Ben Waples and drummer James Waples, with saxophonist Karl Laskowski, guitarist Nick Vardanega and recent winner of the 2011 Generations in Jazz competition, trumpeter Ken Allars, the group’s fresh sound bring new perspectives to Nock’s music.
Awarded BEST AUSTRALIAN CONTEMPORARY JAZZ ALBUM at the 2011 Bell Awards the trio have been invited to tour Japan in September. Recent gigs include TOKYO JAZZ 2010, JAZZ-JAKARTA, WELLINGTON INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL, tours with top players George Garzone and Bob Mintzer plus opening for Sonny Rollins at the Opera House in 2009.
