Event Details

In their second family concert for 2017 titled Movies, Dreams and Adventures, The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) with Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams will bring to life some of the greatest film scores of all time alongside music designed to inspire dreams and adventures in this epic family musical event. Featuring loved music from big budget movies including Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Trek, Batman, ET, Star Wars and Frozen, this electrifying concert will also present two world premieres from emerging Australian Composers including a Viking French Horn soloist.

Get dressed as your favourite movie character and join Queen Elsa from Frozen, Spiderman, Wonder woman, Jedi Knights and other movie characters amongst the 60 musicians from TMO. These two family friendly concerts with presenter are designed to inspire a love of music in children and stir the emotions in parents who have loved these movies since childhood. Kids and families are encouraged to bring cushions and rugs to each of the casual morning or early afternoon performances.

Designed by Artistic Director Sarah-Grace Williams who was previously the Artistic Director of the now defunct Sydney Opera House Babies Proms, The Metropolitan Orchestra’s Family Cushion Concert series invites young audiences and their families to get close to each instrument of the orchestra in these fun and energetic kid-friendly shows. Children and families are encouraged to bring cushions and rugs to each concert performed without interval in the morning and early afternoon where they can see, hear, engage and enjoy all the music and musicians of the orchestra.
