Event Details
Young Melbourne pianist/composer Nat Bartsch has had an exciting year, with the release of her trio's debut CD, the beginning of her solo piano project, overseas study in Europe with ECM artists Tord Gustavsen and Nik Bärtsch and a tour to Japan scheduled for May of this year. Joined by young talents Josh Holt (bass) and Leigh Fisher (drums), the trio draws particular influence from the jazz piano trios of Scandinavia, Melbourne pianists Tony Gould and Andrea Keller, and indie bands such as Elbow and Sigur Ros. Their focus lies in creating unique improvised music with melodic and harmonic beauty and vibrant rhythmic motives. This special performance will also feature acclaimed vocalist Gian Slater (recently returned from New York) for the second set, collaborating on both Bartsch and Slater's compositions.
