Event Details
"Of Loss: Grief's Transitions" is a collaboration between New York-based Australian choreographer Rebecca McCormac and Australian composer Andrea Breen. The dance and music movements have been created around the theme of one person's possible experience of moving through the emotions and transitions of grief. The seven sections (danced without breaks) are: Denial, Pain, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Reconstruction, Acceptance. Each piece is approximately 3 minutes duration.
Although grief is neither a linear nor a universal process, Andrea Breen has responded to Rebecca McCormac's movement ideas around common states of being by creating sound palettes that might suggest struggle with, and transition in, grief over time. Each work has been pre-recorded in the studio using: viola, violin, synthesiser, toy piano, piano, voice and guitar.
Performers: CoreDance Contemporary (seven female dancers); Artistic Director/choreographer: Rebecca McCormac; Composer: Andrea Breen
