Event Details
The influence of Orientalism in music.
Firebird Trio commences 2015 with a concert dedicated to the influence of Orientalism in music. Takemitsu’s Between Tides offsets the compass with its exquisite irregularities of metre and harmony, while Grabowsky’s new work will shift the radius even further. Liszt’s tone-poem Orpheus is realized in a luminous arrangement by Keith Humble, while Beethoven’s variations on a theme from Muller’s opera and Rachmaninoff’s stirring trio round off the concert.
In 2015 Melbourne Recital Centre’s Local Heroes series shares the stories of our World War I heroes.
This concert is in tribute to Private Martin Troy, one of our ANZAC Local Heroes. To read the story, visit the Your WWI Local Hero tab above.
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre and Melbourne Recital Centre and Firebird Trio.
Featured non-Australian music: Takemitsu, Beethoven, Liszt, Rachmaninov
