Event Details

Renowned Melbourne-based pianist and composer Paul Grabowsky has been leading a trio for more than three decades now, and every incarnation is as good or better than the last. When in Sydney, Grabowsky has consistently chosen elite bassist Jonathan Zwartz and award-winning young drummer Tim Firth, both of whom have an exciting rapport with Grabowsky.

Playing a repertoire of Paul Grabowsky’s innovative and demanding original tunes as well as his arrangements of standards and classicas of the jazz repertoire, this is an exceptional piano trio to experience live.

Paul Grabowsky has worked with many of the world's jazz greats, including Chet Baker and Art Farmer, and has played the world over as well. From his studies at the infamous Julliard School in New York, to living and performing in Europe for many years, his trio format has continually won him attention, critical acclaim and prestigious international awards, including first prize in the Leverkusen EUROPEAN JAZZ COMPETITION.

He has performed extensively in Australia and the USA, with the AUSTRALIAN JAZZ ORCHESTRA and has been voted Jazz Musician of the Year in ROLLING STONE magazine’s critics poll three times in three decades, while his work has also won numerous ARIA and APRA awards.

The Paul Grabowsky Trio has been in demand to tour with international jazz artists including Sheila Jordan, Johnny Griffin, Richie Cole, Al Cohn, Herb Ellis, Warren Vache, Urbie Green and Ricky Ford, while on the home front, The Paul Grabowsky Trio has toured nationally appearing regularly in the major jazz venues, and all the major jazz festivals.
