Following on from his Bell Award-winning sextet release, Fish Boast of Fishing, Peter Knight launches his debut solo album Allotrope (Listen Hear Collective). Allotrope features Peter on trumpet, prepared flugel horn, laptop electronics, pedals and guitar It continues, albeit tangentially, Knight’s preoccupation with space, understatement, and long form structure, and draws inspiration from diverse sources.
Allotrope will be available at this launch on a limited-edition high-quality USB drive with design by Jin Sangtae featuring 24 bit high-resolution files, a high definition video shot by Digital Pill, and detailed liner notes only available on this edition.
Also performing will be Knight's new quartet project emphasising a minimal approach to improvisation and exploring the meeting points between electro acoustic and acoustic directions. It features Peter Knight (trumpet, laptop electronics, amplifier), Erkki Veltheim (violin, electronics), Brett Thompson (guitar) and Joe Talia (drums, electronics).
