Event Details
We will be closing out Perth International Jazz Festival at The Ellington by celebrating the music of both the festival and the club's founder, and one of Perth’s greatest musical talents, who we very sadly lost in 2017: Graham Wood. As well as founding Perth International Jazz Festival and The Ellington Jazz Club (alongside Bernard Kong), Graham was also an Associate Professor at WAAPA, and to top it all off: a superbly gifted and inspiring pianist and composer. His energy and zeal knew no bounds and his fierce passion was obvious not only through everything he played, but everything he ever did.
To celebrate and honour him, some of Graham's best friends are getting together to perform a range of compositions from his 5 recorded works, alongside original pieces inspired by Graham, and stories connected to him. Come and celebrate the end of this year's Perth International Jazz Festival with the music of the man who has provided so much opportunity and support to a musical community that he really believed in.
