Event Details

Recently returned from a residency at Montsalvat, Plight of the Peacock will perform a program of new works by Simon Charles and Matthew Horsley as well as solos by Takemitsu, Ishii and Aphergis. Comprising Kim Tan (flutes), Aviva Endean (clarinets), Ryan Williams (recorders) and Matthew Horsley (percussion), Plight of the Peacock endeavours to push beyond the confines of traditional modes of performance. Furthering work developed at Montsalvat, this program will investigate the way a composition can be influenced by its theatrical context; through vocalisations, physical gesture or unusual sounding objects. Willing to risk all that is precious in concert music, this program strives find new situations; playful, absurd or ridiculous, through which the music can speak. We hope that you can join us in exploring these new and imaginary musical realms.

Performers: Kim Tan (flutes), Aviva Endean (clarinets), Ryan Williams (recorders) and Matthew Horsley (percussion)

Featured non-Australian music: Voice - Takemitsu; Corps a Corps - Aperghis; Black Intention - Ishii
