Leaping onto the Australian music scene in 2017, Melbourne Chamber Players comprises musicians who have dedicated their lives to performing exceptional chamber music at the highest level.
Directed by clarinetist Justin Beere and oboist Steph Dixon, its passionate players perform with the leading Australian symphony orchestras and ensembles.
Melbourne Chamber Players explores contemporary and 20th-century composers whose daring music is praised for capturing a national identity. A premiere of Nigel Sabin dazzles with distinctive Australianness, reflecting the idea his daring works ‘convert the enemies of contemporary music’. Phantasy by Imogen Holst swirls with lyricism amid its treasured English pastoral aesthetic, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Quintet reveals all the brilliance and playfulness of his colourful style.
