Event Details
The Saturday Night Gala brings worlds of youthful energy, and stories of ancient earth in a program featuring two of Australia’s finest string quartets and the singular presence of one of Australia’s most revered songmen Djakapurra Munyarryun. As the voice of countless Bangarra Dance Theatre productions over the last two decades, Djakapurra will be familiar to many of you, but here brings his homage to the late great indigenous composer David Page in a new work in collaboration with the Australian String Quartet. This age old voice is followed by the sprightly exuberance of two works by a young Mendelssohn to bring our first Festival day to a rousing conclusion.
