Event Details
Saving Daylight is a lush contemporary jazz release suffused with beautifully crafted melodies and superb improvisations. The original compositions draw from significant life events and influential observations with each piece representing a deeply felt sentiment: isolation, joy, loss, nostalgia, a sense of place, legacy, and gratitude. The album features an immaculate band of notable Australian artists: bassist Elsen Price, Dave Goodman on drums and cymbals and pianist Dan Holland, with guest appearances from Nick Southcott (piano) and Ray Cassar (trumpet and flugelhorn). Saving Daylight is Stuart Vandegraaff’s first jazz release as bandleader after a distinguished performance career in Australian music. A selection of Vandegraaff’s previously unreleased original works composed over the past 25 years.
