Piano and percussion become sculptural installation as mundane objects spring to life in Clocked Out Duo's most recent offering "Foreign Objects". Brisbane-based Erik Griswold and Vanessa Tomlinson use bowls, bottles, tiles, recycled materials, prepared piano and toy instruments to create intricate and absorbing sound textures. Prepared piano morphs into the sound world of discarded kitchenware, while the tiniest music box has redistributed itself - accompanied by multiple melodicas. Even the floor is prepared with discarded objects. Approaching the performance like an action painter, Tomlinson whips two nylon ropes in a chaotic dance, striking an array of plates, bowls and other detritus.
