Event Details

Bondi Sculpture by the Sea is Australia's foremost outdoor sculpture exhibition featuring over one hundred sculptures by artists from around the world, along the iconic cliff walk from Bondi Beach to Tamarama Bay, running daily from 7am-9pm from Thursday 3 november to Sunday 20 November.

This year, Kirsty Beilharz (UTS) and Aengus Martin (USyd) have a site-specific sound installation on the cliff at Tamarama Beach: Windtraces (work #90). This is the first sound-only installation work at Sculpture by the Sea, which event celebrates its 15th anniversary.  We invite you to visit our installation and the numerous other exciting works.

Windtraces is inspired by its context situated on a curvaceous cliff of intricately coloured and contoured sandstone, overhanging and forming a natural amphitheatre at the side of the beach-walk. The sound installation is transformed by live weather conditions captured by a weather-station at the site to create a constantly changing and situated response. The time of day, temperature, wind speed, direction and humidity affect the sounds and their diffusion along the rock contours in a spatial focus on movement, trace and flow.
