Event Details

Recipie nt of the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award 2011 for up and coming young female jazz musicians, Hannah James’s career has gone from strength to strength with performances at the Brisbane Powerhouse, Kinetic Jazz Festival, Bennetts Lane Melbourne and more, plus studio performances and interviews for the ABC as well as recording her soon to be released debut album for this same band. These are outstanding achievements for such a young artist and she is certainly a committed musician and composer who is one to watch.

Recently relocating to Sydney after graduating from the ANU School of Music, Hannah has already played with some of the icons of Australian Jazz including Don Burrows, Dale barlow and John Morrison as well as outside the jazz genre with pop musician Jessica Mauboy and others. Influenced by the sounds of today’s best contemporary musicians from America and Scandinavia including Aaron Parks, Ari Hoenig, Gilad Hexselmen, Will Vinson, Aaron Goldberg, Tord Gustavson, Atomic and Illmiliekki Quartet, Hannah's talent, enjoyable repertoire and infectious energy will make for a brilliant start to an exceptional evening of jazz.

Hannah James (bass), Casey Golden (piano), Ed Rodrigues (drums)
