Event Details

“The players are among the finest improvisers alive yet the piece as a whole was the star” John Shand, SMH

Conceived by Rick Robertson, Mutiny Music tells the story of the infamous 1789 Mutiny of the Bounty. Encompassing jazz, traditional Polynesian and Scottish music, pacific drumming, sacred music and reggae, Mutiny Music depict how the clash of Tahitian and English cultures developed into the language and song of the of the Pitcairn and Norfolk islanders. The suite is accompanied by slides derived largely from museum collections. The images are and consist of ships logs, artists’ portraits, maps, diary entries and early photographs of and chronologically reflect the life and times of the Pitcairn and Norfolk Islanders.
