Event Details
An intimate program of music inspired by poetry of Rabindranath Tagore and Countee Cullen. Written during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, 'All through an empty place I go' takes cues from Cullen’s ‘The Loss of Love’, whilst the seven part song cycle ‘Stray Birds’ (after Tagore) contrasts with themes of healing and hope; presented in a new arrangement for bassoon and piano. Meurant also performs excerpts from his album 'Monday to Friday' (originally composed for people living with dementia), alongside the solo piano works 'Sortie' and 'Pas de deux' from the ballet 'Au revoir mon ami'.
