As a musician's instrumental proficiency develops, so does their artistic taste and temperament. Returning in 2025, Soundbites sees ANAM musicians present concerts that capture a moment in time, reflecting their training and offering glimpses of their future selves. What excites them? What do they want to express? How does music help them make sense of the world? Discover their unique, intimate perspectives in this series. Bratsche Bash This concert is a celebration of all things viola — friendship, laughter, and the lush inner voices we secretly know are the best part of any piece. It’s a musical party where alto clef reigns supreme and violists unite to show just how joyful the middle can be. Expect a morning filled with rich, velvety tones, playful banter, and a shared love for the instrument that so often plays the unsung hero. Whether you can read alto clef or not, this concert promises warmth, joy and a few surprises along the way. The program features beloved favourites arranged specially for viola ensemble, as well as staples of the viola repertoire that showcase the instrument’s rich colours and unique charm. Highlighting the concert is the world premiere of a piece by ANAM violist and composer Jamie Miles — a special work in which each section was crafted with a specific player in mind, making this performance as personal as it is powerful. Join us as we celebrate the heart of the string section in a musical experience that’s equal parts heartfelt, joyous and unforgettable.
