Event Details
A microtonal work for consort of 80 iPhones is played in 5 international locations (16 players in each location), each location connected via streaming audio. Players from Ars Electronica/Bruckner University, Linz, Austria, Central Conservatorium of China, Beijing, Yong Siew Toh Conservatorium Singapore, University of Newcastle NSW, University of Waikato NZ. The work is based on a 10-note microtonal scale devised by contemporary tuning theorist Erv Wilson. Sounds are synthesised using an iPhone app called the Satellite Gamelan which is created and programmed by the composer.
