Event Details

A screening of the family favourite Babe with Nigel Westlake's score played live by the SSO.

The little pig who wanted to be a sheepdog makes his way to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall! The film was an international hit and winner of eight Academy Awards, but it was Australian composer Nigel Westlake who gave Babe his musical voice. Watch the film and listen for the classical tunes, most notably 'If I had words', which draws on that famous tune from the finale of Saint-Saëns' 'Organ' Symphony. You'll also hear snippets of much-loved music by Grieg, Fauré and Bizet. 'That'll do, pig. That'll do.'
