Mike Nock and Laurenz Pike have shared a musical friendship spanning nearly 20 years. Over this time they have created a wealth of divergent and inspiring music; Pike crossing over into the world of electronics and rock with his bands PVT, Triosk and the recent Szun Waves, and work with artists such as Jack Ladder and Sarah Blasko. Don Banks Award winner Mike Nock has continually remained at the forefront of modern jazz and creative music in Australia
and NZ. Their two duo albums together have seen them develop a shared language of improvised music as a vehicle for spiritual discovery and storytelling. Their most recent album Beginning And End Of Knowing was recorded in Oslo’s famed Rainbow Studios, and was winner of the 2016 Jazz Bell Award for ‘Best Produced Album’.

ALON ILSAR SANDY EVANS DUO (8pm) Sandy Evans and Alon Ilsar launched this new collaboration at the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival in 2015 with “cunning electronics” and “stunning improvising” (John Shand). Sandy Evans’ love for Indian music and deep musical searching unites with Ilsar’s innovative live sampling technology and mastery of his custom gestural controller.
