Event Details

Opening night of the 2012 festival, conceptual sound artists/composers Luke Jaaniste (Qld) and Julian Day (NSW) have created an installation for the Blacktown Arts Centre as well as a "Mass" performance in collaboration with local performers from Blacktown and the South-West region of Sydney with some unusual instrumentation.

The performance will follow a few words by festival Artistic Director Andrew Batt-Rawden and the Mayor of Blacktown, Alan Pendleton to open the festival.

Super Critical Mass met whilst studying at the Queensland Conservatorium in the late 1990s. Since then they have each built international cross-disciplinary sound practices, which also inform their research and teaching activities at leading Australian universities (UQ, USyd and QUT).
