Event Details

“…All you who walk by on the road, attend and see if there be any sorrow like my sorrow…”

Following on from last year’s ‘time without light’, an exploration of Carlo Gesualdo’s tortured Tenebrae Responsories for Holy Saturday, Alaska regular Lachlan Hughes curates another program of Renaissance vocal music for the carpark’s cathedral acoustic.

In the midst of winter, Robert White’s 16th century setting offers a timeless window into human sorrow and longing. Interspersed with motet by Mendelssohn and a solastalgic lament by Australian composer Chris William ‘Marking Time’ promises to be a unique performance.

About the performers: The newly-formed Sydney Antiphony brings together eight of Sydney’s finest ensemble singers from diverse backgrounds. Working without a conductor, the singers collaborate as chamber musicians in forging a fresh and unique approac diverse styles of music, ranging from the early renaissance to the present day.
