Event Details
Synergy Percussion is Australia’s premier percussion ensemble. The ensemble has commissioned over thirty works by Australian and international composers in its 39 year history. In 2011 Synergy Percussion called out for new works to be commissioned for the Aurora Festival of Living Music in conjunction with the Commissioner’s Circle. Synergy is thrilled to be presenting the work of four of the finest brightest stars of Australian composition.
Intermetallic is the latest percussion composition by Amanda Cole. It blends the beautiful sounds of antique cymbals, vibraphones and other metal instruments to create a delicate other-worldly fabric of sound.
James Rushford's words halfway to intelligence is also a subtle work combining unusual metal and foreign object sounds with prerecorded speech rhythms.
Alex Pozniak has by extreme contrast created a hard-hitting energetic and dynamic work for multiple drums and cymbals. The piece draws inspiration from the mathematical formulae of math-metal music.
Marcus Whale has composed a work for woodblocks drums and harmonicas. As one might expect from the instrumentation the piece is not without humour and is both poetic and highly original.
