Event Details

Taikoz 4tet Live! is a show which displays Taikoz’s trademark high-energy performance in a compact format ideally suited to the intimacy of the Byron Theatre. Featuring all the unique drama, vibrancy and musicality that Taikoz is famous for, Taikoz 4tet Live! delves deeply into the roots of the taiko drum, but with a contemporary twist.

Premiered in Sydney at the Darling Quarter Theatre in May 2017 to a full house and recently performed at the Bellingen Fine Music Festival, this 90min work, comprising of 4 performers and a multitude of drums as well as the Shinobue (Japanese flute), takes the audience on a thrilling musical journey in a more intimate setting.

Suitable for the whole family! We recommend ages 8+ as some younger children can be unsettled by the volume of the drums.

About Taikoz

Since 1997 Taikoz has developed an international reputation for vibrant performances that couple explosive energy and extreme dynamism with refinement and grace. From the most delicate melodies of the shakuhachi to the thunderous impact of the odaiko, Taikoz is at once meditative and free-spirited, primal and dramatic.

Taikoz perform on the stages of Australia’s finest concert halls, as well having performed in leading theatres and concert halls worldwide including in Japan, Paris, Bangkok, Taiwan, Abu Dhabi, The USA where Taikoz gave a series of performances on the West Coast, culminating in headline appearances in the Taiko Nation concerts at the 2014 World Taiko Gathering in Los Angeles and most recently the touring our show Chi Udaka through five Indian cities.
