Event Details

Join us for a concert & album launch with Australian composer, Jonathan L. Billingham & the Tallowdale Chamber Orchestra.

Tallowdale's album launch will take place in two locations: Sydney, where the composer currently resides; and the Manning Valley, the region of the composer's family home and a place of inspiration for his music. The album's title work & featured piece on the program, From Hidden Valleys to the Open Sea, evokes the beauty of the Manning Valley. It portrays a bird in flight as it descends from the heights of Barrington Tops to follow the river's winding paths and journey to meet the sea. This work was commissioned by the Manning Winter Festival and premiered at the Manning Regional Art Gallery in 2016.

In keeping with the theme of flight, this concert series will also feature The Lark Ascending by English composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Well-known for its beautiful, soaring melodies, this piece has been an inspiration to Billingham. We look forward to celebrating with you at the album launch! There will be opportunity to have your CD autographed by the composer.
