Event Details
A Night of Sultry Rhythm and Melodies With The Metropolitan Orchestra.
The Metropolitan Orchestra’s (TMO) next Met Concert on July 6th titled “Tangos and Tchaikovsky” will feature Tchaikovsky’s masterful Serenade for Strings followed by a world-premiere performance featuring pianist-composer Daniel Rojas.
Led by Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams, these two works performed by TMO’s inspired string section will have the audience swaying in their seats in a night of passion fuelled energy.
Tchaikovsky’s heartfelt and gracious Serenade for Strings opens the emotive evening with its distinctively solemn chorale theme developing through each inspired movement to reach an exuberant and melodious dance inspired finish.
Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla revolutionised tango music by incorporating elements of jazz and classical music into his traditional tango compositions. Heavily influenced by Piazzolla’s sensual, poignant and exuberant work, Daniel Rojas’ Libertango Suite complements and salutes the iconic composer with Rojas’ unique and distinctive take on tango, salsa rhythms and classical music. The world premiere performance showcasing Rojas’ characteristic warmth and charm will leave the audience both breathless and chanting for more.
