About the artists
Orpheus Trio brings a breath of fresh country air to the concert stage. Pianist Helena Kernaghan, violinist Kaori Sparks and cellist Sam Goble call the towns of Albury and Castlemaine home, where the regional trio has warmed local music-lovers with their uplifting concerts. The trio’s rural roots inspire programs of a distinctively Australian flavour.
About the concert
It takes over 40,000 kilometres to travel around our enormous globe, yet a single dream can transport us anywhere. Orpheus Trio reflects on the great distances that separate us within Australia and abroad, and the visions that bring us together. It performs Russian composer Anton Arensky’s momentous yet seldom-performed piano trio, and the most recent piano trio by renowned composer Gordon Kerry. These contrasting works from opposite sides of the globe are united by prolific composer Elena Kats-Chernin’s short yet deeply affecting work Calliope Dreaming.
COVID Safety
Melbourne Recital Centre is committed to the safety of our artists, staff and patrons. When we reopen, a range of public health, hygiene and physical distancing measures will be in place. Click here to learn more.
