Eight Australian artists have been invited to each create a radio art work with the instructions that they are all to transmute the same visual image into an audio only work. In this collection of new works the artist is seen as a transformative node, generating a transmuted signal within the media matrix. Each work follows an evolution of media from visual symbols to audio technologies, broadcast technologies and the internet via live audio streams and podcasts.
The Transmuted Signal series features new works by Philip Samartzis, Cat Hope, Colin Black, Nigel Helyer, Lizzie Pogson, Melanie Herbert and Entoptic.
