TOM VINCENT 50th Birthday Celebration Concerts 5 evenings, 5 extraordinary musicians! Tom Vincent has been on the international music scene since 1987. He is well known for his unique style. It's grounded in the tradition of blues and swing and powered by strong jazz rhythmic drive. Tom has been an active member of a zen community and in Japan last year he was ordained as a monk. This commitment requires continued training for the years ahead. Tom's performances will be a rare occurrence in the future. To mark his 50th birthday five performances will be held in Hobart this March. This will present an opportunity to see him before he becomes more immersed in monastic life.
Reuniting with his favourite musicians, these concerts will see Tom at the peak of his music career. Come and enjoy and celebrate some of the best live jazz happening in Australia this year, in March, in Hobart. As well as original improvisation/composition, other composers whose songs the Tom Vincent ensembles will be playing in March include: Kurt Weill, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Poter, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, Fats Waller, Carlos Jobim, Rodgers & Hart, Vincent Youmans, Charlie Parker, Billy Strayhorn, Victor Young, Ray Noble, Jimmy Van Heusen, Eddie Harris, Ornette Coleman, Dexter Gordon, Denzil Best, Tadd Dameron, Jackie McLean, Gigi Gryce, and Irving Kahal
