Event Details

SIMA is delighted to present this exciting Tasmanian-based band as part of their national tour. Pianist, composer, arranger Tom Vincent is an original jazz stylist and captivating performer with unique harmony and melody.

Having studied composing/arranging and performance with Don Burrows, George Golla, Mike Nock, Roger Frampton, Tom graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium in 1989 with encouragement from Burrows to further his study abroad. Burrows described Tom as a trailblazer, '…a musician who does not merely recycle what he’s heard, but will really take music somewhere of his own.'

Following an International Study Grant from Australia Council for composition study in New York, Tom lived, studied and performed in New York for three years, before basing himself in Europe where he performed regularly in Amsterdam and also in London, Paris, Berlin, Luxemburg and Tokyo. He now has a contingent of musicians from around the globe with whom he performs.

Recent projects have included arranging charts for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s 60th anniversary concerts and live to air performances featuring local and interstate musicians, recording with Scott Tinkler and Elliott Dalgleish and performing in Tokyo with guitarist Hikaru Komamura and drummer Manabu Hashimoto at the Jazz Club Django.
