Hobart-based pianist Tom Vincent has been playing professionally for some 20 years, and has performed around Australia, as well as in Europe, Asia and South America; his band toured nationally as the support act for the Branford Marsalis Quartet in 2010. He has released four Trio CDs, the most recent being Jazz Lives! For his concert at Wangaratta, Tom will be joined by Sam Anning (bass) and Danny Fischer (drums). Tom says : “I enjoy exploring and refining the jazz canon, playing over earthy throbbing pulses in crisscrossing tempos. You might describe my sound as a blues, swing, hot, bebop, cool and modal morphing style influenced by Ellington, Monk, Hitchcock, Mingus, Dolphy, McCoy and Louis. The band’s approach is spontaneous and unpredictable, we love to make each performance a joyful experience for musicians and audience alike.”
