Pushing the Asian/Australian jazz concept even further...” – The Weekend Australian

One of Australia’s most widely travelled jazz exports, Way Out West’s utterly unique sound has earnt them invitations to play at some of the largest music festivals in the world, including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Veneto Jazz Festival and Takatsuki Jazz Festival. Led by daring trumpeter and composer Peter Knight, Way Out West’s latest album features Sydney-based koto virtuoso Satsuki Odamura, building on the band’s long history of integrating Asian instrumentation. Watch as they infuse these influences with irresistible West African—influenced grooves and jazz-inflected melodies.

Special Support by Paul Mason

Nationally recognised guitarist and rock’n’roll chaos-man, Paul Mason took first place in Happy Music Blog’s ‘20 Aussie guitarists you need in your life’. Perhaps best known for his collaborations with Jessica Mauboy and Timothy Bowen, and as lead guitar for his rock band The Ruckus, this unique instrumentalist is rarely caught for intimate performance. As a soloist, Paul writes incredibly emotive songs delivered with spontaneity, playfully traversing musical genres as he fills the stage.
