Event Details

In Winter 2018, we present award-winning young double bassist, Jacques Emery as our Trigger Artist - an outstanding, early career improviser and composer.

Already in-demand as an improvising bassist in Sydney’s jazz scene, Jacques is involved with several original projects such as minimalist, improvising trio Bornholdt/Emery/Inman-Hislop and indie-jazz outfit HEKKA.

As part of the Trigger initiative, Jacques’s minimal compositions are brought to life in collaboration with two of Sydney’s most versatile and established improvisers, pianist Matt McMahon and drummer James Waples.

Hear some of the most exciting musical ideas coming from the new generation as the trio slowly unfolds huge sound worlds of Jacques’ own devising, and experiments with some well-known jazz repertoire.
