Event Details
Zela Margossian Quintet performs passionate, energetic ethno-jazz influenced by traditional Armenian music. They were a stand-out crowd favourite at the 2017 Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival, and have recently returned from performing at the Beirut International Jazz Festival. Born in Beirut, Zela went on to study piano performance in Armenia, where she developed a passion for the ethno-jazz of the lively local scene. Since moving to Sydney, Zela has been establishing herself as ‘one to watch’ as an artist and composer.
SPECIAL SUPPORT: TREVOR BROWN Trevor was a featured artist at Ars Electronica 2017 and received Australia Council funding to tour his durational work Dronescape across six European countries. Combining classical, jazz, world, experimental and electronic music, Trevor’s one-man show has received great acclaim, being termed “mesmerising” and “brilliant” by The Scotsman (Edinburgh).
