Summary: 'A guy in the middle': The music of movement comes alive in this whimsical piece, recorded through cavernous spaces and places so quiet you can hear your blood rush. Microphones dance around a central point, wielded by cyclists. During the piece, Sherre DeLys talks with Jim Denley about some of the processes used in creating the program. A homage to the microphone. Devised and performed on the flute by Jim Denley. Produced by Sherre DeLys.

Broadcast on The Listening Room, ABC Classic FM, 19 March 2001.

Summary: 'Bulldozer at White Swan Bridge': Number 2 of '24 views of an inkstain on the tatami', a guided audio tour of Japan in which the familiar and the strange are twisted by an irritable postcard writer, a passionless guidebook and a 'voice in the head'. A vast bridge across the inland sea. A coaster chugs down the strait. A bulldozer scrapes boulders off the deck of a freighter. Something momentous happens when the postcard writer spills his bottle of purple ink into the tatami. Written and performed by Tony Barrell.
