Product details
The title, Al-Kauthar, signifies "the abundance" in the Arabic language. Al-Kauthar was initially inspired by my research into the transformation of the Persian Gulf States, after the discovery of oil in the 1930s. Al-Kauthar also drew its poetic impetus from the shortest surah (chapter) of the Qur'an, which bears the same name. Furthermore, the work's symbolic dimension contains numerous references to heavenly river, al-Kauthar, which, according to many Shi'ite Muslims, was incarnated in the form of Fatima, the favourite daughter of the Prophet Muhammad.
