Aroona Dawning celebrates the Mapleton rainforest in the Sunshine Coast hinterland of Queensland. Denise Elkins made recordings of bird song and other ambient sound which I used, sometimes 'literally', and sometimes as the basis for more mediated musical elements. Playing with the sounds using Audacity software I was able to find aspects of the bird song not readily apparent to the human ear.
