Product details
Below the Star Stretched Sky is a celebration of the joy of star-gazing. It postulates that the entrancing stars in a clear night sky can gaze back at us, hopefully with equal pleasure.
Singular stars and their apparent constellations, with brilliant splotches of galaxies gradually reveal their placing and their paths. What about us? Do humans look as beautiful on mass to the stars as they do to us?
From the compositional perspective Below the Star Stretched Sky looks for points of connection between the apparently disparate trombone and the traditional string quartet. They share a sonorous aural ease. The trombone is always a strong presence in an ensemble, and here it draws the listener to the rich low to middle register and not to the higher sounds of the violins.
