Product details

Composer and guitarist Agustín Barrios (1885 - 1944) was one of the greatest neo-Romantic composers of the twentieth century. He composed Canción de la Hilandera in Mexico in 1933.

In this arrangement of the original guitar solo, the guitar plays a countermelody with the flute, and the sparse and gentle lines speak of the eloquence in the music of Paraguayan composer Barrios. Barrios wrote a great deal of poetry in his earlier years, and a poetic quality can be heard in the importance of a single note in one instrument against that of the other, almost in the style of the Baroque counterpoint composers.
