Composed by Julian Yu, these 20 short classically-related, humorous pieces, commissioned by pianist Ke Lin, are "Cutetudes" ('cute' + 'études'). Full of little gems, this CD also includes two excerpts from Julian Yu's Oriental version of Pictures at an Exhibition.
Both the music and the title reflect the blending of language and
culture through Music. The English word "cute" - meaning
attractive, especially in a dainty way was blended with the
French word "etude" meaning study. These "cute-etudes" were first
intended as ten short pieces composed for Ke Lin's daughter as
inspirations for a beginning musician. Twenty compositions and 5
other tracks later, with Ke Lin on piano and through Julian Yu's
brilliance and enthusiasm - CUTETUDES and other piano works was
CUTETUDES is a collection of mostly short pieces full of creativity and humour, and inspired by the dedicated study and exploration of Classical Composers and their compositions from Europe, China, and Japan.
