Product details

A newly recorded selection of chamber music by contemporary Australian composer Wendy Hiscocks (1963 - ). The works include 'Shades of the Alhambra' (2004-9), 'Mother & Child' (1999-2000), 'Nocturne' (2007), 'Coral Fantasy' (1994) and 'Libretto of the Eight Year Old' (1997-9). The composer appears as pianist with the following supporting artists: Rachel Nicholls (soprano), Madeleine Mitchell (violin), Sarah Thurlow (clarinet), Brian Mullan (cello), Philippa Mo (violin) and Michael Turner (viola).

Much of the music was inspired by the exotic surroundings of her homeland, the Moorish legends of Spain or the Indian poetry of Tagore.
