Product details
Clapstick Resonance for String Quartet No. 1 explores the integration of clapsticks-one of the world's oldest continuously used instruments-within the Western string quartet tradition. Rather than functioning as an added colour or external pulse, the clapsticks operate as a structural and relational force, shaping the rhythmic and expressive language of the ensemble. The work unfolds through shifting textures of pizzicato and arco writing, with resonance, repetition, and subtle dynamic growth guiding the musical form. Throughout the piece, the quartet listens with the clapsticks, allowing rhythmic gesture to emerge as a shared, grounded presence rather than a metrical overlay, inviting performers and audiences into a space of attentive, collective listening
