Sheet Music: ScoreCloseUp : for clarinet in A, violin, cello and piano / Lachlan Skipworth.by Lachlan Skipworth (2008)
|
Product details
This piece for clarinet, violin, cello and piano was written with
the idea of exploring the ways we communicate with those people
with whom we have a close bond. The title, CloseUp, is a
reference to photography, where by using the right lenses, we see
a completely different side of the subject in a picture.
Likewise, on being 'close' to a person, we begin to see the
thoughts, cares and desires in their heart, and take different
meanings from their words and actions. In this piece, the
violin's expressive
melodic motives contrast with the more mysterious clarinet
figures. From a dark mood at the beginning, the ensemble follows
the dialogue between these two musical ideas as they rise and
fall, shout and cry, and finally become reduced to nothing more
than a whisper.
