Product details
Destiny is composed for symphony orchestra and consists of two movements. The piece draws inspiration from the poem "The City" by Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy. In this poem, Cavafy metaphorically suggests that "the city will follow you," implying that one's past, roots, culture, and background are inescapable and accompany an individual wherever they go. This concept reflects the idea that personal history and identity are integral parts of oneself, regardless of geographical relocation. The first movement is written in A minor and follows a ternary form. It is performed at a moderato tempo (crotchet note = 96) with a 3/4 time signature. The second movement adopts a rondo form and is set in D minor. It features an 8/8 time signature, subdivided into 3/8 + 3/8 + 2/8, and is played at an allegro tempo (crotchet note = 132). Throughout both movements, I have endeavored to musically express the themes and emotions evoked by Cavafy's poem.
